The Bibliophily. Manuscripts Office aims to make use of the bibliophile documents of the “Carol I” Central University Library in Bucharest. The office organizes, processes in computerized form, indexes and promotes through the exhibitions displayed at the institution, the funds of foreign old books (1455-1750), and of old Romanian books (1508-1830), as well as Romanian and foreign books that meet other bibliophile criteria (art illustrations, limited editions, information regarding the author, final forms, annotated copies by great personalities, copies of rare works, copies that have not been made commercially available, Daco-Roman works, etc.), manuscripts, correspondence, old maps, photographs, ex libris, graphics, medals.
Since 2007, the organization of the historical archive of the institution has been included in the scope of activity of the Bibliophily Office.
The bibliophile documents found at the Headquarters, in the collections of the “Carol I” Central University Library in Bucharest can be consulted by specific categories of users (professors, researchers, PhD students, students), between 9.30 a.m. and 3.30 p.m., from Monday to Thursday, and Friday between 9.30 a.m. and 1.30 p.m, only in the G. Dem. Teodorescu Reading Room. Access to the collections of bibliophile documents is possible only with the written approval of the Bibliophily. Manuscripts Office, based on a written request from the applicant.
