The Periodical Services has as its main responsibility the processing, in a traditional and computerized system, of the further resources, following the flow of library activities: the development of collections, the evidence and organization of collections, the cataloguing, classification and indexing of serial publications.
The main activities of the department are the following: permanent information about the requirements of various categories of users, ensuring the centralized acquisition of printed and electronic periodicals for the “Carol I” Central University Library in Bucharest, processing serial publications and providing information resources to the target audience, according to the curricular area and in accordance with the library’s mission, of preparing the budget expenditure statement for the Headquarters and for the branch libraries.
The scientific databases are acquired through the Anelis Plus Consortium, by co-financing from European funds. The “Carol I” Central University Library in Bucharest is one of the founders of this association, which provides access to electronic information and documentation resources, useful to specific categories of users.
The Periodical Services promotes the library’s documentary resources and ensures the visibility of print and electronic periodical collections.
